Al, a jaded English journalist, volunteers to return to the Philippines to cover a story about the imperilled clusters of terraces, declared by UNESCO to be a world heritage site. The story charts the resurgence of Al�s life-force as he involves himself with farming and the daily lives of indigenous people in their quest to save their ancestral inheritance from environmental catastrophe.
